History Continued
Back in 1960, the Town of Jasper Place and the Town of Beverly existed. Both of these towns made agreements to have the Greater Edmonton Foundation manage the lodges that the Province built in their municipalities. These were Beverly Lodge and Elmwood Lodge in Jasper Place. We don’t know for sure but it is thought this is why they called the Foundation the Greater Edmonton Foundation.
There were four lodges built in 1962.

The original agreement stated that four sites (Belvedere, Elmwood, McQueen and Rosslyn) would be built first and “further sites” which were not specified, would be added later. An amendment was made to the agreement in 1981 which increased the number of seniors served to 690, and the other 10 sites that were erected or approved would be considered the “further sites” which would fully complete the 1960 agreement.
The 10 Subsequent Projects built between 1963 and 1984.
